March is very much of a transitional month in the Pacific Northwest. With each passing day, the promise of sun and warm weather gets closer. The Mariners, of course, are already enjoying the summer weather down in their spring training camp in Peoria, AZ.
One of the treats of summer in Seattle is going to see the Mariners play at Safeco Field. OK, it used to be a treat to watch them play. In the last few years, the team has been a disaster except for some decent pitching especially from Felix Hernandez. But there is a glimmer of hope this spring. The Mariners have a bevy of decent prospects and young talent that may make an impact this year or the next.
As a Seattle Mariners fan, however, I’ve learned to handle disappointment. But I will hold my breath and doubts for now and wait for opening day on March 28th.
