Seeing a distinct rainbow is always a treat. But seeing a double rainbow is doubly cool.
The double rainbow I saw this morning over Bellevue WA seemed especially bright to me. I later learned that the primary rainbow is the one that has red in the outer arc and violet on the inner aspect. (The lower arc in the photo above is the primary rainbow.) The second arc in a double rainbow, on the other hand, has its color order reversed with red facing the primary rainbow.
